When is Bohag Bihu in 2027?

Bohag Bihu 2027 runs from 14 to 20 April 2027. Other years: 2026, 14 to 20 April 2026; 2028, 14 to 20 April 2028.

About Bohag Bihu

Bohag or Rongali Bihu marks the Assamese new year and the start of the sowing season in mid-April. Its first day is Goru Bihu, when cattle are bathed in rivers, rubbed with turmeric and fed, then led home. The second day, Manuh Bihu, is for people: they bathe, put on new clothes and offer a gamosa, the red-bordered white cloth, as a mark of respect to elders. Young men and women, in traditional muga silk mekhela chador and dhoti, dance the Bihu dance to the sound of the dhol and pepa, a buffalo-horn instrument. Songs, called Bihu geet, are sung in the fields at evening. Winter and autumn have their own Bihu, Magh and Kati.
