Privacy

Short version: you can read everything on EveryParampara without giving us anything. If you subscribe we keep your email address. Analytics are used only if you say yes.

The welcome screen

On your first visit a welcome screen shows what is happening today and offers three optional choices: your email for the weekly EveryParampara, a box to agree to marketing email (not ticked for you), and a choice between allowing Google Analytics and ClickTrust bot analytics or essential cookies only. "Just browse" declines all three. Your choice is stored in your browser (under hl_welcome) so the screen does not come back, and a record of the choice (analytics yes or no, marketing yes or no, your country, a random visit id and whether you gave an email, never the email itself) is kept so we can count consent. Change your choice at any time with "Cookie choices" at the foot of any page.

What we collect

Email address, only if you subscribe and tick the box. We store it with the date you signed up and confirmed, the country your request came from, and the wording you agreed to, and use it to send the weekly email. We ask you to confirm first, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Email is sent through Plinth, our email service.

Analytics, only with your consent. If you allow it, Google Analytics sets cookies and records which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are and what device they use, and ClickTrust's tag checks whether a visit is automated. If you decline, neither is loaded at all. We also respect the Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals: when your browser sends one, analytics stay off.

Advertising counts. We count how often each sponsored placement is seen and clicked. The counts are totals per day and are not tied to you.

The close assistant

When you move to leave the page on a computer, we may ask what you were looking for. If you type something and press Find it, we keep the words, the page you were on and your country (not your name or address) so we can add what is missing. We ask once per visit, and you can switch it off for 30 days from the box.

Links that leave the site

Reading links open their publishers. Those sites have their own privacy terms. Nothing is loaded from them until you follow the link.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data or build profiles of readers.

Where it is kept

The site runs on Railway and Cloudflare. Photos are served by Wikimedia.

The weekly EveryParampara

Every week: one tradition from somewhere new, what is being celebrated around the world this week, and one idea explained.
