When is Shavuot in 2027?

Shavuot 2027 runs from 11 to 12 June 2027. Other years: 2026, 22 to 23 May 2026; 2028, 31 May to 1 June 2028.

About Shavuot

Shavuot, on the sixth and seventh of Sivan, comes seven weeks after Passover. It celebrates the wheat harvest and, in tradition, the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Many observant Jews stay up on the first night to study, a custom called Tikkun Leil Shavuot, and the synagogue is decorated with flowers, plants and greenery. The Ten Commandments are read and the Book of Ruth is chanted. Families eat dairy meals, such as cheesecake, blintzes, cheese kreplach and ice cream, for reasons that include the image of the Torah as milk and honey. In the early twentieth century, farming communities in Israel held celebrations of first fruits, bikkurim, in which children brought produce in decorated baskets.
