Rosca de reyes
The ring-shaped Epiphany cake with a hidden figure, eaten on 6 January.
Also: kings cake, roscon
The rosca de reyes is a ring-shaped sweet bread, decorated with candied fruit, eaten on 6 January, the feast of the Three Kings, in Mexico, Spain and other Hispanic countries. A tiny figure of the baby Jesus is hidden inside, and the person who finds it in his or her slice is expected to host a party on 2 February, Candlemas, with tamales. The oval ring symbolises a crown, and the fruits are the jewels. In Spain the roscon is topped with sugar and fruit and may be filled with cream.
